Full Round Color Analysis
No big upsets on Day 2 and all 16 top 1-4 seeds have advanced. That really never happens. Jimmy is our leader... maybe something to his email address, Luckyman55. Rookie Hunter Sox came on strong on Day 2 and has taken the second slot. But Dave D'Onofrio might be in the strongest postion, with a lead in Upsets and Upset Ratio.
The Leader Board is too tight right now that the 16 games that happen Saturday and Sunday could completely flip the script. We've seen competitors go 15 of 16 and rocket up the Leader Board. No one is out of this, especially with the Comeback Kid award possible for those competitors who have finished this round in the 20th through 44th position. If you can finish at least 10 positions better, you're eligible to win that award.
Half-Round Color Analysis
Well now... this might be the hottest start to the Big Dance Club ever. A big bunch of competitors stayed home with plenty of favorites and then did well with finding the right upsets. Kudos to newcomer Noah, the only one to hit all four upsets. But guaranteed this Leader Board will shift dramatically as we get through today's games. Austin might be sitting in 12th right now, but 3 upsets and 15 upset ratio points will be difference-makers down the stretch. Last year's reigning champ, Ed Peper is in the thick of it. In 27 years no one has EVER won it all twice. We'll see if that can happen.
Is there a Cinderella Sweet 16 in Drake or McNeese? Michigan had the closest score among high profile favorites to win. You've got John Calipari and Rick Pitino bringing past great programs in Arkansas and St. John's back to prominence. A deep run for those teams? Keep an eye on UCLA... they had the #1 defense in the Big 10. Typically they can't score, but defense wins championships. Enjoy some great B-Ball today, maybe some big upsets, and as the Poolmaster is a two-time Spartan grad... Go State!
